Americana idols

A few years ago, photographer Jennifer Greenburg discovered and became intrigued by American Rockabilly sub-culture. Here was a group of people who not only wore the clothes but also drove the cars, collected the furniture and even adopted the social values of 1950s America. Doggedly immersing themselves in this time warp, ignoring all the trappings of modern living, they were something of a curiosity. So she started to photograph them - essentially as she found them but choreographing them as a director would her actors. The results are images which teeter somewhere between art and documentary.
