Accident and Emergency departments attract strange people. I occasionally visit reception purely for the spectacle.
Four security guards were patrolling the other night, in their tight white latex gloves (worn in case patients are bleeding), when the waiting room began to fill with cut and bruised gypsies.
Inevitably an argument began; a large gypsy angrily shouted abuse at a couple of others. A relatively small security guard intervened, telling the gypsy he would have to leave unless he was prepared to be quiet. He continued to yell, ignoring the guard, who then gently took him by the arm. The gypsy was incensed and swung at him. The guard calmly stepped back, avoided the blow, and then came forwards assertively, driving him up against the wall.
Then he performed a cunning move - aikido or something - which

involved twisting the gypsy's wrist so that he dropped to his knees and was brought completely under control; the guard was able to hold him there with only one hand.
Meanwhile a woman with a black eye arrived. She was not a gypsy, but had been punched in a nightclub. A few minutes later three more women arrived; one held her head as blood dripped down her face. They surveyed the room for a seat, and one screamed, "There's that ******* bitch!"
She ran over and slapped the woman with the black eye. Another guard quickly stood between them, and they argued hysterically about why the black-eyed woman had smashed a glass onto the bleeding woman's head.
Sadly at this point a nurse came to fetch me; patients were waiting to be seen. So with regret I had to end my visit to the zoo.
