into the everyday objectification of women.

"The Sport and similar publications are undermining a healthy and respectful society," says the MP. "They portray women in a way that is grossly offensive and undermines the valuable contribution that women make in society, and further encourages the exploitation of women."

It's not just women who are sick of it. When she spoke on a BBC Radio Merseyside phone-in about her Bill, 90 per cent of callers agreed with Claire Curtis-Thomas's proposals.

Lord Dubs, one of the men backing her, says: "This material should be wrapped and on the top shelf. It wouldn't go against free speech and censorship. It's like the 9pm watershed in television. For young people, it can be harmful and affect their attitudes to women."

TEN-MINUTE RULE BILL

A Ten-Minute Rule Bill offers an MP the chance to construct an argument and have it heard in Parliament - for 10 minutes only. It rarely becomes law. Claire Curtis-Thomas says: "You hope it will attract press attention and ministers will look at the bill, then consider whether the sentiment in the bill would stimulate policy."

OBJECT'S MISSION STATEMENT
"Object challenges the objectification of women by the media, porn and sex industries. We challenge this because of the denigrating and contemptuous manner in which these industries portray women, and the widespread social harm that this perpetuates. We want to see 'unrecognised' porn classified as pornography and sold accordingly. We want, ultimately, regulation of the now-normalised sexual objectification of women."
