Candid Cafe
Having to take the trouble to head down a back alley and up two flights of stairs just to find the Candid Cafe is in itself an antidote to the slick franchises of Bad London. And then there’s the bohemian interior, complete with proper paintings and an atmospheric pall of cigarette smoke. Not for children then, but hey, some things just aren’t. There’s a decent wine list and the constantly changing menu offers unfussy, affordable food. A good bet for anyone with hours to while away and a fondness for low lights and high art.
