American graffiti

Gajin Fujita's work is a bit like, say, Banksy meets Lucas Cranach; except in Fujita's case it's more hip-hop, urban graffiti meets traditional Japanese painting and woodblock printing. Los Angelean Fujita has Japanese origins, thereby qualifying him to fuse together LA hip-hop's spray and stencil techniques with scenes from classical Japanese art. There are geishas and courtesans, samurai warriors, flowers and animals, as well as some traditionally big-penised erotica. It's fun, dazzling, bold and horny, and - so far - looks like it will make Fujita a star, almost in the Jean-Michel Basquiat category.
