Carve your own niche

Sculpture course, Brecon
Channel your "inner Antony Gormley" on a sculpting course in Wales, says Suzy Bennett in the Daily Telegraph. These three- or four-day workshops take place in converted barns in the Brecon Beacons, and cover three disciplines: clay casts, stone carvings and metal work. Participants can make "anything they like", from bird baths to clay busts of their own head. There's plenty of inspiration to be had from the glorious local landscape; or you
could pinch some ideas on one of the regular guided visits to nearby Kilpeck Church, which houses "one of Britain's finest collections of Romanesque stone sculpture".
