Chimera obscura

Janaina Tschäpe was born in Germany, brought up in Brazil, lives in America, and is showing in Ireland. So it could be appropriate that her new show is entitled Chimera - a chimera being a creature of mythology, in whom multiple beings are fabulously combined. Tschäpe's work is also very chimerical. It's a fusion of film, photography and painting which she brings together in an intense, ethereal relationship of weird moods and subtle colours. A highly romantic fairy-fantasy of sirens and maidens, it also contains - like all good stories of enchantment - a dark undertow of melancholic danger.
