Sketching out a future
Drawing has received a lot of institutional encouragement in recent years - campaigns, events and new private teaching courses - prompted by fears that it would otherwise be in terminal decline. Many people (and many art courses) think that drawing is a dead language, like Latin, and good riddance. Anyone with such doubts might like to ponder this group show by Benjamin Jones, Chris Hipkiss and Farina Alam, whose visual language could be described as resembling a vibrant, inventive Pig Latin. It's a made up language, and looks alive and well - communicating in a way that is emphatic, hard-working and committed.
