Behind the lens
Everyone knows that a fashion photograph gives us nothing like the truth - once all the make-up, clothing, lighting and air-brushing have been laid on, the reality gets buried under several layers of gloss. But it's not often that the fashion industry will acknowledge this and allow its methods to be exposed. It would dispel the illusion of perfection they're trying to flog us after all. This exhibition, however, celebrates those rare instances when they do acknowledge it - when some of the biggest fashion photographers from the last 50 years (including Norman Parkinson and Saul Leiter) have turned the lens round for a wry behind-the-scenes peek and a little self-reflection.
