"Well, I don't remember them. Who's that one?" he barked, jabbing an accusatory finger at Anna's brother. "I definitely haven't seen him before!" Anna's brother, sitting just half a yard away, shifted uncomfortably in his chair and politely pretended not to hear.
"You don't remember because you never bother to pay any attention to anyone I introduce you to," I said.
"Why should I?" he retorted. "What's in it for me?"
I shook my head and sighed. He sat back in his chair, looking more content than I've seen him in weeks. "I'm never going to introduce you to anyone ever again," I declared.
"Do you promise?" he beamed.
