Go camper crazy

Tonke Campers, Amsterdam
There's a new way to explore the "picture-postcard" scenery of the Netherlands, says Rhiannon Batten in the Observer: in a vehicle that's "part monster truck, part 'Little House On the Prairie'". The Tonke Camper is a hand-built van that combines the feel of a traditional Gypsy caravan with the modernity of a Winnebago. Even the smallest version is so spacious it contains a full-size double bed, a fully working kitchen, a shower and WC, and a
bicycle cupboard. The interior is elegant, with "clean lines", bold hues, dark wood and "not a hint of kitsch" - and driving such a large vehicle isn't too hard once you get the hang of it.
