Very good Master Bond
As Charlie Higson's superlative five-novel exploration of James Bond's school days climaxes with By Royal Command, the Young Bond series starts again in comics form with Higson's own adaptation of his bestselling opener, Silverfin. Given 007's history as a long-running newspaper strip, it's not surprising that the character translates successfully to comics, but Higson's conceit works especially well - largely due to the artwork of Kev Walker. With a style rich in shadow and flat colour that's strikingly reminiscent of Mike Mignola (you half expect Hellboy to turn up in the more Gothic segments), Walker strikes the perfect tone for this danger-filled Boy's Own adventure.
