Peter Mandelson outside Number 10 Downing Street today following his surprise reappointment to the Cabinet. One of the prime architects of New Labour, Mandelson has had a powerful influence within the modern party. Today's news came as a shock in Westminster because of the animosity between him and the Prime Minister, ever since he backed Blair over Brown for the leadership in 1994.
