Lobster safari

Sweden's lobster season

Between Gothenburg and the Norwegian border, the Swedish coastline is scattered with 10,000 islands, most of them uninhabited, says Sarah Shuckburgh in the Guardian. But here and there, you'll come across a group of brightly coloured wooden houses and a white clapboard church huddled beneath grey, rocky escarpments – a traditional fishing village. At this time of year, lobster season is in full swing, and now an enterprising hotel is offering its guests 'lobster

safaris'. If you can bear the bitter wind and icy spray, you'll learn how to catch the creatures; later, your hosts will boil them up while you relax in the sauna.

The Lobster Package at the Handelsman Flink hotel (+46 3045 5051) costs £270pp per night, including B&B and a double room.
