Displaced by the fighting between rebel forces and the army, thousands of Congolese have fled into the city of Goma in the east of the mineral-rich African country. There are 5,000 UN peacekeepers in the city, but the Congolese army is pulling many of its tanks and troops out of the city. Renegade General Laurent Nkunda, leader of the rebels, has threatened to send his forces into Goma if UN peacekeepers do not guarantee a ceasefire
