Motown at 50
Marv Johnson's 'Come to Me' was Tamla Motown's first release. Originally called Tamla, the label was set up by impresario Berry Gordy with a loan of $800 from his family. He later added Motown, nickname of his home town Detroit, also known as the Motor City.
