Kindle could be book version of iPod

4 out of 5

Love 'em or hate 'em, the e-book reader just won't go away. And here's yet another one... Hailed by many as the book equivalent of the iPod, Amazon's original Kindle has led the charge into brave new e-waters. And the Kindle 2, out now in the US, boasts slimmer proportions, more storage and a 16-colour screen for improved clarity. Apart from its price, it's gone down rather well over the pond, and it does wield some nifty features: integrated 3G, an online dictionary, free Wikipedia access and text-to-speech. But as for when (or if), it'll be available in the UK, there's no official answer as yet... watch this space.
