James Graham Ballard at home in Shepperton in 1988. The author is most famous for his books 'Empire of the Sun' which was published in 1984 and later turned into a film by Steven Spielberg, and 'Crash', a controversial novel about people with a sexual fetish for car crashes, published in 1973.
