Andy Murray has a routine start to the French Open at Roland Garros on Sunday. The British number one has been drawn against Juan Ignacio Chela, who peaked at number 15 in the world in 2004 but currently stands at number 205.

The Argentinian is a hardcourt specialist who performs well on clay, but is yet to progress beyond a quarter-final so far this year. Murray, who has worked hard over the last two years to improve his clay game - including drafting in the coaching expertise of two-time French Open finalist Alex Corretja - will expect to beat him. Murray, should he overcome the early obstacles, will face world number one Rafael Nadal in the semi-finals.

In the female competition, British number one Anne Keothavong has a mountain to climb ahead of next week’s campaign as she will go head-to-head against Russian world number one Dinara Safina.

The match is set to test world number 56 Keothavong but it’s likely she’ll be feeling confident after reaching the semi-finals of the Warsaw Open - the first time a British woman has reached the last four of a clay-court event for 26 years. Last year’s victor was 21-year-old Ana Ivanovi? after she beat Safina in the final.
