The British and Irish Lions have made five changes to the side that goes into the must-win second Test against South Africa on Saturday, with unfortunate prop Phil Vickery missing from the squad.

Simon Shaw replaces Alun Wyn Jones in the second row and Adam Jones and Matthew Rees come in for Phil Vickery and Lee Mears in the front row. Rob Kearney replaces the injured Lee Byrne at full-back and Luke Fitzgerald bumps Ugo Monye from the left wing.

Team: R Kearney (Leinster and Ireland); T Bowe (Ospreys and Ireland), B O'Driscoll (Leinster and Ireland), J Roberts (Cardiff Blues and Wales), L Fitzgerald (Leinster and Ireland); S Jones (Scarlets and Wales), M Phillips (Ospreys and Wales); G Jenkins (Cardiff Blues and Wales), M Rees (Scarlets and Wales), A Jones (Ospreys and Wales), S Shaw (Wasps and England), P O'Connell (Munster and Ireland, capt), T Croft (Leicester and England), D Wallace (Munster and Ireland), J Heaslip (Leinster and Ireland).
Replacements: R Ford (Edinburgh and Scotland), A Sheridan (Sale Sharks and England), A-W Jones (Ospreys and Wales), M Williams (Cardiff Blues and Wales), H Ellis (Leicester and England), R O'Gara (Munster and Ireland), S Williams (Ospreys and Wales).

WHAT THEY ARE SAYING:

Mick Cleary, the Telegraph: "Veteran England lock Simon Shaw will finally make his Test debut 12 years after first playing for the Lions, and in the front row tighthead prop Adam Jones and hooker Mathew Rees have been drafted in to join Gethin Jenkins. It will be the first time the Lions have selected an all-Wales front row in a Test since 1955."

David Hands, the Times: "Few expected the touring team's pack to be demolished in quite the manner it was during the first half at the ABSA Stadium and Phil Vickery, Lee Mears and Alun Jones pay the penalty. Jones, the Ospreys lock, retreats only so far as the bench, but the two England front-row forwards have gone altogether, as has Ugo Monye from the left wing and Lee Byrne from full back."
