Michael Owen could be on the verge of the most shocking transfer of the close season to date, according to the Guardian, as the out-of-contract former Newcastle striker is in talks with Manchester United. The 29-year-old England international, who also played for United's arch-rivals Liverpool and Real Madrid, has already spoken with Old Trafford officials and could undergo a medical there as early as today. Alex Ferguson is keen to reunite him with his one-time international shooting partner Wayne Rooney...

Fulham are also tracking West Bromwich Albion captain Jonathan Greening, who they could pick up for £3m...

Despite Chelsea's bid of £40m being the only formal one on the table, the Daily Telegraph says that Bayern Munich's Franck Ribery is still expected to leave for Real Madrid when he makes up his mind next week. The 26-year-old supposedly told French sports newspaper L'Equipe yesterday that: "It's decided. I want to leave. Yes, it will be Real or nothing. I would like a discussion with the Bayern directors fairly quickly." But Chelsea remains convinced they can persuade the French international to join them, and Bayern maintain that they have no pressure to sell their star player...
