After weeks of speculation John Terry has finally taken two minutes out of his busy pre-season schedule to comprehensively quosh the rumours of a move Manchester City. The Chelsea skipper announced: "I want to clear this up once and for all. I am totally committed to Chelsea and always have been."

It was the first time the defender had commented since City's £30m bid, and wages of £200,000 a week, was made public. Terry, 28, has yet to agree a new contract at Stamford Bridge but it now seems that he will thrash out a deal with the London club, and will probably be offered a deal worth in excess of £150,000 a week...

Despite that setback City are pressing ahead with their pursuit of Arsenal's Kolo Toure and Everton's Joleon Lescott. Mark Hughes' side hope to sign Toure for £14m this week. The defender, 28, would become the club's fifth acquisition of the close season after Gareth Barry, Roque Santa Cruz, Carlos Tévez and former teammate at Arsenal Emmanuel Adebayor. City are also hopeful for a breakthrough in their efforts to sign Lescott, the England defender...

Peter Crouch may or may not be teaming up with former boss Harry Redknapp at Tottenham next season, depending on who you believe. The Sun reports that the striker will have a medical at White Hart Lane before sealing a £13m move, whereas the Times says the fee is £10m. But according to the Guardian Redknapp is "not condfident" that the deal will go through. Portsmouth accepted a £12m offer for the player from Sunderland, but Crouch turned down the deal, and Redknapp says Spurs are not willing to match that valuation for the 28-year-old...

The Mirror reports that Fulham striker Bobby Zamora has rejected a move to Hull, making him the fourth striker to snub Phil Brown after Michael Owen, Fraizer Campbell, and Marc-Antoine Fortune all said no to his side...

Portsmouth defender Sylvain Distin may fly out to Spain this week to join Aston Villa, but Portsmouth are holding out for a fee of about £4m, although Martin O'Neill has only offered £2.5m, according to the Express...
