The nominations for this year's Music of Black Origin - Mobo - Awards have been announced, with TV talent show graduates rubbing shoulders with homegrown heavyweights like Dizzee Rascal and international stars including Kanye West and Beyonce.

UK rapper Dizzee (right) is tipped to do well at the awards - he has been nominated in three categories, while pop trio N-Dubz and fellow British rapper Chipmunk have earned four nods each.

Reality TV stars are also strongly represented in this year's nominations, with two X-Factor acts, Britain's Eurovision entrant and Strictly Come Dancing judge Alesha Dixon (left) all in the running.

Alexandra Burke, who won the last series of the ITV talent show, and runners-up boyband JLS will compete in the Best Newcomer category along with Jade Ewen - who came fifth in this year's Eurovision after winning the TV show Making Your Mind Up. The other contenders for the award are London rapper Master Shortie and Irish singer Laura Izibor.

A dearth of solo female talent has prompted the organisers to merge the male and female awards into a single UK Act category - but it features only two women - Beverley Knight and Dixon. They are up against singer Mr Hudson, rappers Dizzee Rascal, Bashy, Chipmunk, Tinchy Stryder, DJ Ironik, producer Donae'o and pop act N-Dubz.

Dixon's nomination comes after she was dropped by her record label but resurrected her career by winning Strictly Come Dancing in 2007 and has since joined the BBC show's judging panel.

The Best International act features Beyonce, Kanye West, Jay Z and Mariah Carey along with Eminem and Lady Gaga.

The nominations were revealed at an event at the Mayfair Hotel in London - yet the actual awards ceremony will take place outside London for the first time in the 14-year history of the Mobos, when the winners are announced in Glasgow on September 30.
