Roman Polanski leaves court in 1977 after pleading guilty to unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor. Before being sentenced he was required to undergo a 90-day psychological evaluation. He was released after 42 days but then fled to London before moving on to France. As a French citizen, the courts were able to refuse his extradition to the United States. He was finally detained in Switzerland on Saturday after travelling to the Zurich film festival.
