Polaroids of the masters

Last year the Polaroid Corporation announced it would terminate production of its 'one-step' photographic film. October 9 2009 marks the date when the final batch of Polaroid film will pass its 'use by' date. The Atlas Gallery is hosting 'Polaroid Exp 09.10.09', an exhibition to mark the twilight of this unique photographic era. From the landscapes of Ansel Adams, who was the first artist to be commissioned by Polaroid's inventor, Edwin H. Land, in 1948 to the portraits of Andy Warhol (Dennis Hopper, above) and David Bailey, this exhibition brings together many of the greatest exponents of the photographic medium.
