Hotel of the week: Pambele, Mozambique

Pambele, Mozambique

Safari and sea on the coastline of Mozambique

Pambele is one of the most beautiful private lodges on Mozambique’s "astonishing” 2,500km-long coast, says Lisa Grainger in Condé Nast Traveller. It’s located on the remote San Sebastian Peninsula, over-looking Bazaruto Archipelago Marine National Park (“a diver’s paradise”), and is backed by a private 36,000-hectare sanctuary inhabited by small game. Built around the central lodge are its four “rooms” – villas with their own plunge pool and indoor and outdoor showers. Food is not "polished”, but is delivered with such enthusiasm it hardly matters.
£200-£400pppn, depending on season. Sleeps ten adults and four children (min. booking six people for four nights). Contact: 01159-377446; pambele.co.mz
