Enter the forbidden zone

The inner life of North Korea is a closed book to most of the world. All the more entrancing, then, to see Mark Edward Harris's images of this secretive and fascinating country. His photographs document a startling place full of colour, haughty grandeur and choreographed pageantry. Military matters loom large, too, and the sight of children posing in front of armed soldiers (right) as if they were meeting Mickey Mouse offers up a clue as to why North Korea increasingly attracts international attention.
