Away with the drug-crazed faeries

With God Save The Queen, the British writer Mike Carey revisits the same brand of Gaiman-esque fantasy that made his highly acclaimed Lucifer such a compelling read. The story is set in London, where a rebellious teenage girl called Linda falls in with a group of slacker faeries addicted to a drug made by mixing heroin and human blood. Soon hooked, Linda gets drawn in to a war between Faerie Queen Titania and her insane predecessor, Mab.

Painter John Bolton vividly captures the tale's starkly different worlds, ranging from the lurid underbelly of modern London to an elegant and haunting fantasy realm that's tinted with decadence - and a hint of photo-realism.
