Hong Kong City
Hong Kong, one of the most densely populated metropolitan areas in the world, has nurtured a new breed of high-rise living - captured in this dizzying series of photographs by Michael Wolf.

The overpowering repetition of brick, glass and stone suggests digital trickery, but only the perspective of the shots has been corrected to make the buildings appear face-on.

His vision is illuminating: laundry and hanging plants invest the massive structures with human character; colour interrupts their uniformity; no two blocks are the same. "Hong Kong is almost like a plant,'' he says. "It grows organically, making space for itself wherever possible." Elaine Hake
