It is not that long ago that it first became acceptable in media circles to refer to celebrity couples by their first names - Madonna and Guy, Sting and Trudie, Gwyneth and Chris.
Now the gossip columns have been complicated by an outbreak of amalgamated celebrity brand names. The phenomenon began with 'Bennifer' - short for Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez, an ill-starred Hollywood relationship. Here, for the uninitiated, is a handy glossary:
MOHERTY - Pete Doherty and Kate Moss. The on-off relationship between the Babyshambles frontman and the supermodel (right). Currently off.
KIENNA - Keira Knightley and Sienna Miller. Inspired by the burgeoning 'best friend' relationship between the two, recently 'papped' together at every opportunity.

TOMKAT - Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. The Hollywood actor-actress 'team' who are ever eager to vaunt their perfect partnership. Not to be confused with...
KOSH - Katie Holmes and Posh (Victoria Beckham). The unlikely relationship between Katie and her new Beverly Hills neighbour Victoria, in which the latter appears to have taken on the role of style mentor.
BRANGELINA - Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. The most-used celebrity amalgamation, inspired by the fact that the actor and actress have seemingly fused into one being.
BENNIFER II - or GARFLECK - Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner. The love affair Affleck progressed to after the collapse of his relationship with the original Jennifer (Lopez). This tag never really caught on - but at least they're still together.
