whose best-selling "Dasha Skinny" jeans cost around £100.

Russian Vogue editor Aliona Doletskaya, describes Dasha as a "refreshing discovery" and a force to be reckoned with. She told The First Post: "Her relationship with Roman and the way it was treated by the press didn't help her image-wise at all. Her image as a successful young professional has been overshadowed by jealous gossip. She is far more attractive in real life than in pictures: well brought-up, polite, incredibly feminine."

And, apparently, a serious player in her own right. "She is very focused on what she wants to do. She is a serious businesswoman and has her eye on the financial picture in her company. She is a proper trendsetter for Russian girls: young, gorgeous, wealthy."

Dasha left Russia at the age of nine when her mother, Elena, was offered

a job as a microbiologist in the US. She soon got used to skiing holidays in Colorado and went to school in Los Angeles: business partner Christina Tang was a classmate. In her late teens she turned down an offer to work with her father - who was not keen on her going into fashion: "But I was not that interested in the oil business," she tells Russian Vogue.

She is, apparently, so Americanised that she speaks Russian with a slight lilt. She has picked up the LA habit of avoiding wheat and dairy, and dresses in Chloe and Luella by day, YSL and Prada by night.

Even before she met Abramovich, she has always had to defend her good fortune in life. "Of course a lot of people just see me as the daughter of a rich man. They think I have had all this handed to me on a plate. But only I know how hard I have had to work for it."
