Cao Fei is part of that ever-expanding group of young, quirky, talent-rich artists to be found in today's China. Her projects combine performance, film and photography to construct theatrical manifestations of her memories and thoughts, as well as a few choice observations from the world around her. She picks up on the fads and fantasies of both Chinese and global youth culture - from local fancy-dress fanatics in her hometown of Guangzhou to Burberry-clad social climbers the world over - and interprets them with amused detachment.
