British-made costume drama based on Amanda Foreman's biography of Georgiana Cavendish, the 18th-century Duchess of Devonshire. The film tells the story of a beautiful aristocrat (Keira Knightley as the duchess) with a taste for the high-life who grows to become an influential political figure, fashion icon, devoted mother and darling of the common people. The film also explores two complex love triangles involving the Duchess, her husband (Ralph Fiennes), the future prime minister Earl Gray and Lady Bess Foster.
