Barack Obama’s London schedule revealed

Barack Obama will meet Gordon Brown, his opposite numnber in the Tories, David Cameron, and Brown's predecessor Tony Blair when he visits London this weekend.

Obama will discuss the Middle East and climate change with Tony Blair, Gordon Brown, areas that the former PM remains active in, before going to Number 10 for a meeting with its current incumbent, before meeting Cameron as the last of his engagements.

The low-key nature of the preparations by Downing Street- there will be no joint press conference, just a photo-opportunity outside of No 10 - has angered some in the Labour Party, who have urged Gordon Brown to make more of the visit by a potential political ally in the White House.

Party members are also pushing Brown to adopt more of the style of Obama's politics. David Lammy MP, a friend of Obama's from black alumni dinners at Harvard University, argues that "Obama is showing the political methods of the 1990s look very tired".

Obama was yesterday in Jordan on his whistlestop tour of the Middle East, after which he will travel to Europe, stopping off in Paris and Berlin before he comes to London.
