Man decapitated in bus attack

A bus passenger in Canada has been killed and decapitated by the man sitting next to him in a frenzied and apparently random knife attack.

The assailant cut off his victim's head and displayed it to the other horrified passengers after stabbing him to death.

The 37 passengers, including children, on the bus and the driver fled the vehicle in terror after the attacker, who was wearing a pair of sunglasses, produced a Rambo-style hunting knife and set upon his victim on the Greyhound bus from Edmondton to Winnipeg.

"We heard this blood-curdling scream and turned around, and the guy was standing up, stabbing this guy sitting next to him repeatedly, like 40 or 50 times," said one of those on the coach.

The driver disabled the bus and passengers braced the doors as they fled, leaving the knifeman trapped on board.

When they returned to the vehicle they found the assailant hacking the young man's body into pieces. The attacker then displayed the severed head of the victim, believed to be in his 20s, to the stunned witnesses.

The Canadian mounted police took the passengers to a nearby hotel while they began an investigation. A man has been arrested in connection with the attack.
