Honeymoon shooting victim dies

Ben Mullany, the bridegroom whose wife was shot dead during a bungled robbery on their honeymoon in Antigua, has died in hospital. The 31-year-old never woke from the coma he entered after being shot at Catherine's side. He was flown home to Swansea by air ambulance in a desperate attempt to save his life, but a scan for brainstem activity proved negative, and his life support machine was switched off.

It is understood the pair are to be buried at the church where they were married only three weeks ago. Both were 31. Mrs Mullany was a doctor, her husband a physiotherapist. An NHS spokesman said: "The thoughts of all the staff who were involved in Ben's care are with his family at this very sad time."
