UK protestors arrested as torch tours Beijing
Four protestors, two Britons and two Americans, have been arrested in Beijing for unveiling pro-Tibet banners as the Olympic torch makes its final journey across the city, despite tight security. The Britons are Iain Thom, 24 from Edinburgh and Lucy Marion, 23, from London.
Thom climbed a 124 ft lamppost with one of the American activists and unveiled a 200 ft banner with a parody of the Beijing Games slogan: "One World, One Dream: Free Tibet". The banner was on show for over an hour before the authorities managed to remove it.
Mr Thom said: "I'll probably get detained by the police and then ejected out of the country but I believe it's not anywhere near the risk or the fear that Tibetans are living under the occupation of the Chinese government.
