Gary Glitter freed early

Gary Glitter, the former glam rock star and convicted paedophile, has been released early from his Vietnam jail after his three-year sentence was cut for good behaviour.

Glitter, real name Paul Gadd, was released today from Thu Duc prison and driven to Tan Son Nhat airport for deportation. The 64-year-old is thought to be on his way back to Britain but could make a stopover in Thailand. However Thai authories are expected to block his entry into the country.
