Ike heads for Havana

Hurricane Ike is expected to strengthen again as it heads towards Cuba's capital Havana after causing considerable damage in the country's eastern provinces on Monday and killing four people. Ike had been downgraded to a Category One storm but forecasters say it could strengthen before hitting Havana. Tens of thousands of people have already been evacuated from the city.

Ike left 61 dead in Haiti and is estimated to have damaged around 80 per cent of homes in the islands of Turks and Caicos.
