In brief: Pamela Anderson gives Obama advice and reading tips

Pamela Anderson, the model and onetime star of Baywatch, has offered Barack Obama (both pictured) the benefit of her political thinking in advance of his move to the White House in January. On her website, she says: "Dear Mr Obama, bring our troops home safely. Please shut down Guantanamo Bay - figure it out." As well as advocating the legalisation of marijuana she offers her "recommended reading list", which includes Naomi Klein's The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism and Crimes against Nature by Robert Kennedy Jr............Michael Jackson will give evidence at London's High Court next week to counter allegations that he breached a £4.7m contract to make two albums for a record label belonging to Sheikh Abdulla, the King of Bahrain's second son. The Sheikh's lawyers were sceptical about Jackson's claim that he was too ill to travel to the UK - they said he could be "bandaged up" and put on a plane, a viewpoint that seems to have prevailed ............The Daily Telegraph suggests that Gwyneth Paltrow's marriage to Coldplay singer Chris Martin may be going the same way as her friend Madonna's. The evidence? The fact that rather than seeing her husband in concert in Oklahoma, Gwyneth journeyed to the reopened Fontainebleau hotel, in Miami Beach, where she attended the Victoria's Secret fashion show, and the paper pointedly notes that the hotel's owner, Jeff Soffer, a billionaire bachelor, flew her to the event in his private jet............
