bo diddley

Bo Diddley, the American rhythm and blues singer, has died aged 79. The Bo Diddley sound - best remembered in his eponymous 1955 hit and sometimes summarised as 'shave and a haircut, two bits' - became a key template for early rock 'n' roll. Paul Gascoigne, the former England footballer, has been sectioned under the Mental Health Act... Senator Edward Kennedy underwent a successful operation to remove the cancerous tumour on his brain yesterday; he remains upbeat, telling reporters: "I feel like a million dollars. Ken Livingstone, the former London mayor, has signed with the firm Speakers for Business; despite being listed as a 'B grade' speaker – William Hague and Alastair Campbell are A's – it is thought he can command high four-figure sums for his postprandial musings... Kelsey Grammer, star of Frasier, is recovering from a mild heart attack he suffered in Hawaii where he has a second home...
