Jagger’s heart of stone for rival Thomas biopic

Sir Mick Jagger, as renowned for his hard-nosed approach to business as his snaky hips, has been causing headaches for the makers of a new film, Edge of Love, a biopic based on the life of the poet Dylan Thomas starring Keira Knightley, Sienna Miller and Matthew Rhys. The film's director, John Maybury, had included large chunks of the Welshman's work in the movie, including poems and prose drawn from Thomas's 1939 book Map of Love. Jagger, it transpires, owns the right to Map of Love and when he got wind of the film, Maybury received a stiff letter from the Rolling Stone's lawyers.

Maybury, already on to his next project, a new version of Emily Bronte's Wuthering Heights, has been forced to go back and edit all elements from Map of Love out of his film. "Mick threatened to sue if we kept them in there." The reason for Jagger's tough stance is that his own production company, Jagged Films, is also planning a film about the poet.
