SJP fury at label’s fashion faux pas

Sarah Jessica Parker has thrown the mother of all hissy-fits after discovering that the gown she wore last week to the New York premiere of Sex and the City (above left), which she had been assured was exclusive to her, was anything but. It now transpires that the silver creation, designed by Olivier Theyskens at Nina Ricci, had already been worn to an earlier Manhattan event - the Met ball on May 5 - by socialite Lauren Santo Domingo. "It's just unethical and disappointing," SJP told the New York Times.

To make matters worse, it turns out Theyskens quite clearly dropped the actress in the fashion soup. SJP is said to have remarked to him during the fitting that she was surprised the dress had never been worn before. Theyskens assured her it hadn't. Yet the photographs from May 5 clearly show Theyskens himself escorting Lauren Santo Domingo to the ball , dressed in the now infamous silver gown (together above right).

Mario Grauso, president of the fashion division at Puig, which owns Nina Ricci, said the Met event had not been mentioned to SJP because Santo Domingo - who is married to a billionaire, but only a Colombian one - was not an A-lister. Ouch.
