Tetra Pak heir on run from police
Hans Kristian Rausing, the heir to the £5.4bn Tetra Pak fortune who is on bail for alleged possession of crack cocaine and heroin, is on the run from the police. The 45-year-old became a fugitive on Sunday when officers turned up at his £5m Chelsea home to question him about two incidents allegedly involving his Audi Quattro car. This is when he appears to have absconded. Police were apparently led to a closed bedroom door by a maid, but when they broke it down the only person there was Rausing's wife, Eva.
The incidents involving the Quattro occurred on Sunday evening at 8.40pm in Chiswick. It crashed into another vehicle and failed to stop, and this was reported to the police by the owner of the damaged car. Then another member of the public called 999 and reported that the same Audi was being driven erratically as it sped towards the M4 near Ealing. A police spokesman said of Sunday's raid: "The premises were searched. He (Rausing) was not at the address and inquiries continue."
In April Eva Rausing, 44, was caught allegedly smuggling drugs into the American embassy. Days later, the couple's house was raided and police allegedly found a stash of drugs. They were both arrested and had to give DNA samples as well as have their photographs and fingerprints taken.
There are a number of locations where Rausing could be holed up. He owns a £50m estate in Barbados as well as a £182m suite of rooms on the luxury cruiser The World.
