Wimbledon shorts: Sharapova stalks the Paris catwalks
When Russian tennis princess Maria Sharapova went out in the second round of Wimbledon, many commentators attributed her loss to the tennis apparel she had chosen for the tournament - a pair of shorts and a restrictive-looking tuxedo-style jacket - claiming that she appeared more devoted to her appearance than to her tennis. Maybe there is some truth in this. On Wednesday night, instead of practicing for the forthcoming US Open, she was spotted at the Valentino show in Paris wearing a very chi-chi silver coat, black pencil skirt and a pair of black heels. "She seemed far more animated looking at the clothes than she did on the court last week," says a First Post source.
Venus Williams angrily denied an accusation made by Russian player Elana Dementieva last night that tomorrow’s Women’s Final featuring both Venus and Serena Williams will be fixed. Dementieva, who was beaten by Venus in the semi-finals said "For sure it’s going to be a family decision". The Williams sisters have faced down accusations of match fixing in the past - critics alleged that they used to take it in turns to win the title.
Former Knightrider and Baywatch star David Hasselhoff’s drinking days may have come back to haunt him. The 55-year-old ex-stud applied for tickets for Centre Court at this year’s Wimbledon but has so far been unsuccessful. Might this have something to do with a mysterious incident in 2006 when he was ejected from that very same court? Reports at the time alleged that Hasselhoff drank copious amounts of beer, before getting into a fight with a security guard, shouting "Do you know who I am? I'm the Hoff!"...
