Abba singer dating British aristo
The heir to the WH Smith fortune, Henry Smith, has landed himself an interesting new girlfriend. Her name is Anni-Frid Lyngstad - better known as Frida from the Swedish pop band Abba (the brunette one). According to the Daily Mail, Smith has been secretly dating the singer for the past seven months, and was by her side last week at the premiere of the Abba inspired movie Mamma Mia! in London.
Some have commented on the age gap - Lyngstad is 62 and Smith 52 - but this seems of no concern to Henry, who is single after splitting up with his former wife five years ago. Nor to his children, Sara and Alexandra. Says Sara: "Dad must really like her because he took her afterwards to the launch of the film in Stockholm as well!” Smith’s Italian-born mother, Maria, Lady Hambleden, is equally thrilled. "They seem to be very happy," she says. "They’re travelling all the time together, from one Mamma Mia! opening to the next."
Sadly, Henry, who will become the fifth Viscount Hambleden on the death of his father Harry, will not be able to introduce Frida to the delights of feudal society. In order to pay for his divorce, he was forced to sell the family’s picture-book Hambleden estate in Buckinghamshire to a Swiss financier for a reputed £38m last year. But then the Abba singer knows about the upsets of matrimony – she has been divorced three times herself.
