In brief: Rain puts dampeners on Sir David Frost’s shindig

The veteran TV globe-trotter Alan Whicker (pictured) and comedian John Cleese were among Sir David Frost’s old cronies who turned out for his annual summer party, held in the public grounds of Carlyle Square, Chelsea, where he has a home, despite the normally starry event being dampened by Wednesday night’s rain... Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are determined not to jeopardise their reported £2m deal for the first snaps of their twins, expected any day; the windows of the French hospital room occupied by Jolie have been coated with a special material to prevent paparazzi from taking pictures… Carla Bruni claims that Cherie Blair gave her the resolve to continue working as a recording artist: "She told me that people take a dim view of her carrying on her career as a lawyer. She had to: they’ve got a lot of children". On that subject, Bruni, 40, revealed that she would like to have a child with her new husband, President SarkozyOlivia Newton-John, best known for her role in the 1970s hit movie Grease, was married for a second time in a ceremony last week.
