Mosley to set up fund to fight libel
Max Mosley, who won £60,000 in exemplary damages from the News of the World last week after proving that the sado-masochistic orgy in which he had participated back in March was not Nazi-themed, has truly got the bit between his teeth. In yesterday's Sunday Telegraph he revealed his plans to set up a fund to help other, less wealthy individuals start legal actions against newspapers that run "kiss and tell" stories that breach their rights of privacy. He said: "I feel very strongly that some newspapers literally ruin peoples' lives and more has to be done to stop this."
Mosley, 68, son of the wartime British fascist leader Sir Oswald Mosley, did not elaborate on his plan, though it is believed that the funds could come from various libel actions he now proposes bringing against the News of the World and various media organisations in France and Germany. The head of British motorsport also talked of his admiration for the four call girls - he preferred to call them "professional dominatrices" – who took part in the orgy (which he describes as a "party"). "The conduct of Woman A,B,C and D [as the women were referred to in court], for absolutely no reward, has been amazing."
Mosley did not comment on Woman E, however. It was she who secretly filmed the party for the News of the World, but who failed, in the event, to give evidence against him in court. Interestingly, it was also revealed at the weekend that it was Woman E's husband who first approached the Sunday tabloid with the story. As The First Post has reported, he had been employed by MI5, although he was sacked when it discovered he was married to Woman E.
