Two divorce lawyers are better than one

The London lawyer Raymond Tooth is nicknamed 'Jaws' because of his fierce reputation. Fiona Shackleton, the other claimant to the title of London's top divorce lawyer, is known as 'The Steel Magnolia'. Now it transpires the two rivals have been fighting it out alongside each other.

Tooth, who has handled divorces for Sadie Frost, Patti Boyd and Roman Abramovich's wife, Irina, has recently separated from his own wife, Debbie, his second. And it was Shackleton (pictured), whose previous clients include Prince Charles and Sir Paul McCartney, who Tooth decided to turn to. He tells the Independent: "Fiona is a very good friend and a great lawyer so that's why I decided to go with her."

Shackleton was famously drenched in court when, during McCartney's divorce, Heather Mills, his ex-wife, threw a jug of water at her. Things went better with Tooth's divorce. Says 'Jaws', who has a passion for racehorses and cigars: "The divorce occurred two months ago and it was all very amicable and non-confrontational."

Tooth's own advice on matrimony is a little suspect. Before meeting his second wife, Debbie Dove, an interior designer, he said that no wealthy man "in his right mind" should consider getting married a second time.
