Sarah Ayton hoping her boyfriend won’t equal her gold medal success

Before the Olympics began, two of the athletes in the British team, boyfriend and girlfriend Sarah Ayton and Nick Dempsey, made a deal. Whoever did best in Beijing would get to choose their marital name when they married. At the moment Ayton, one of the three-woman crew known as "the blondes in the boat", is sitting pretty, having picked up a gold medal in the Yngling class sailing tournament at the weekend.

Meanwhile Dempsey, twice world champion in the RSX windsurfer class, is still competing and remains confident. "He can’t actually beat Sarah, but he can get the compromise result –a double-barrelled surname," said The First Post’s source at Team GB. He will find out his fate tomorrow.
